LATA VISION:
A community and school district that supports, nurtures, and celebrates bilingualism, 
biculturalism, and equity for all students, parents, and teachers.

LATA MISSION:

To promote and celebrate bilingual/bicultural education and the advancement
and success of Latino students, parents, and teachers.

LATA GOALS:

1. Empower our Latino students, parents, and teachers to improve education
in our community through activism, advocacy and leadership.
2. Advocate for a diverse staff that reflects students' language and culture.
3. Assure that Latino teachers are recruited and supported.
4. Celebrate the accomplishments of students, parents, and teachers, and
set forth educational dreams for the next generation.
5. Advocate for the political and educational rights of Latino students, parents, and teachers.
6. Ensure that families have the information knowledge and skills to support
their children's educational success.
7. Develop a relationship with the media to support our mission and goals
8. Increase and activate our membership.
9. Develop and increase our financial capacity through endowments,
corporate sponsorships, and grants.

Dear Latosos.

I am proud to announce, that LATA was selected as the CABE '2012 Leadership and Advocacy Award recipient, by the Board of Directors of the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE).  LATA was selected for their advocacy for the political and educational rights of Latino students, parents and teachers.

The award will be presented during the 37th Annual Conference, CABE 2012, which will be held on March 7-10, 2012, at the Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J Street Sacramento, CA 95814. 

We hope to see many LATA and CABE members at the conference. Share the word about the conference and great news about LATA, throughout San Francisco! The celebration dance will be held on Friday, March 9th, after the Seal of Excellence banquet. Tickets ($25) for the dance ONLY will be sold at the door. Send me an email for more info and CABE registration materials.
