LATA
LATIN AMERICAN TEACHER'S ASSOCIATION
HISTORY-
Since 1970, LATA members have donated time, money, resources, and energy to assure that the San Francisco Unified School District is responsive to the Latino community, we have also participated in the struggle against repressive state legislation, such as Propositions 187 and 227. Our major accomplishments include organizing various events that advance education in our community: - The Latino Conference, - The Latino Honor Roll Celebration - The Latino College Fair, and - The Latino Education Summit. Our culminating event each school year is the LATA Scholarship Dinner/Dance, when we honor our deserving twelfth graders. We are most proud of the thousands of dollars in scholarships we have given to worthy Latino students. They are our future!!
